PROMlink Version 3.4 Installation Program A:PLINSTAL.BAT
                   Copyright 1991 Data I/O Corporation

The 'A:PLINSTAL' batch file installs PROMlink from the Program Disk in drive
A: into the current working directory of the default drive. If you have set
the default drive to A: and type A:PLINSTAL, this screen is displayed, but the
rest of the program will not work. Set the working directory and default
drive prior to running A:PLINSTAL. If you have set the default drive to drive
B:, ensure that there is a blank, formatted disk in drive B:. If you have
specified a hard drive as the default drive, ensure that you have set the
working directory to that in which you want to install PROMlink.

PLINSTAL prompts you to supply an argument to specify the type of computer you
have. If you do not supply an argument when prompted to do so, PLINSTAL
defaults to an IBM configuration. Valid arguments are:
               A:PLINSTAL /A for AT & T 6300
               A:PLINSTAL /C for Compaq
A:PLINSTAL /I for IBM PC, XT, PS/2 or AT
               A:PLINSTAL /N for NEC PC-9801F
A:PLINSTAL /T for Texas Instruments Professional

To begin the installation procedure, press the ENTER key.
To end the installation procedure, press the CTRL and C keys simultaneously.

So what's new in PROMlink 3.4? The PROMlink device list has been greatly
expanded to support the following programmer/pak updates:
    UniSite........V3.3 LogicPak.......V4.0 201............V5.2
    29B............V6.0 303A-011A.....V14.0 280............V5.2

Should you experience difficulties in using PROMlink, call your local Data I/O
representative or (in the USA) call 1-800-247-5700 for technical assistance.
If you experience any fault, or would like to make a suggestion for product
improvement, a Suggestion/Fault Report is enclosed in the manual for your
 convenience.

If you have previously created unique PROMlink configuration files on the
working drive, using a version prior to 3.4, the format of those old
configuration files will now need to be modified to be compatible with this
new PROMlink release. The modification procedure searches through all
directories on the working drive for PROMlink configuration files, and
modifies all those it finds. The procedure may take some time, depending on
the size of storage space on the working drive. No files will be deleted. This modification
procedure will only search for and modify PROMlink configuration files. For more information
on the PLCFNMOD utility (which modifies these configuration files), consult the Appendix in
 your manual.

The configuration file change utility creates a dummy file in the default
drive's root directory called PLCFNCHG.OUT. The utility program appends to
this dummy file the path and filename of any PROMlink configuration file it
found on your working disk that it could not modify.

A note about use of color:
If you own a color monitor, PROMlink can be easily configured to display
eight different foreground and background colors, to give you the
flexibility to choose a combination that works for you. All you need to do
to change the default combination of green-on-black to anything you wish is
to edit the 10th line of your INIT.CFN configuration file, changing the 4th
(foreground) parameter and the 5th (background) parameter to any of the
    numbers listed below...
            0 Black 2 Green 4 Red 6 Yellow
            1 Blue 3 Cyan 5 Magenta 7 White

The PROMlink installation procedure is now complete. Refer to the manual for
instructions on how to connect your programmer to your PC. Then set the
environment variable PLMSG and append the PROMlink directory name to the PATH
statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, as described in the manual. To run
PROMlink, type 'PL' at the DOS prompt.

We trust you will enjoy using PROMlink, the simple utility program for
 conveniently controlling Data I/O programmers.
