Subject: TECH: Midway Clowns Pinouts - Got them.
Date: Thu, 1 Apr 2004 21:49:19 +0000 (UTC)

Hi all!

I was talking to someone about Midway Clowns, but now I can't find the
post, so I'll start a new thread.

I've spent the evening on the board I've got. I've got it working, and
I've figured out the pinouts for the Sound board. They are:

Connector at C/B
----------------
1 - GND
2 - GND
3 - GND
4 - Player 2 Pot Wiper
5 - KEY
6 - Player 1 Pot Wiper
7 - Pot Common
8 - Pot Common
9 - Start 2 Player
10 - Start 1 Player

Connector at K
--------------
1 - GND
2 - GND
3 - GND
4 - ??? Good question ?? I'll come back to this one!
5 - Power On Reset (Ground this to run the CPU)
6 - KEY
7 - Credit
8 - GND
9 - +18v (+12v) for Amplifier
10 - Speaker +
11 - Speaker -

The pinouts for the main board are the same as all Space Invaders

1 - +5V
2 - +5V
3 - +12V
4 - +12V
5 - -5V
6-13 are NC (Pin 10 is reset out, not usually used, but I use it to tell
if the CPU is in reset)
14 - GND
15 - GND
16 - GND
17 - GND
18 - Composite Video Out

I've tried several pots, and it looks like 6k8 linear will work best,
but as I don't have one of those, I used a 4k7 with a 1 k resistor,
which seems to give a good range.

Having played it half a dozen times, it seems like a real cool take on
Breakout!

Hope that's of some help!

Yours, Mark.
