SHORT DESCRIPTION:

- New Features in this version 5:
   - 4 additional game texts can be edited. (Not in Galaxian Bootleg)
   - You can even include a graphic logo in all these texts:
In all PacMan variants, this is called the [namco] logo. (7 chars.)
In all MsPacMan variants, I call it the [genco] logo. (7 chars.)

- New in previous version 4:
Crack for Namco PACMAN & Namco PACMAN Japanese alternate
Names & graphics can now be patched, without the game breaking up !!!!
After an evening of reading disassembled Z80 code, I am now able to
disable the checksum protection for the Roms NAMCOPAC.6J, and PRG7/PRG8.

- This program should be put in a seperate directory with any of the following
  Roms:
PACMAN.6J - For original Midway PACMAN
   PACMANH.6J - For modified PACMAN
PACPLUS.6J - For PACMAN with PACMAN PLUS characters
BOOT4 - For MsPACMAN original Bootleg
MSPACATK.4 - For Miss PAC PLUS
   PUCKMAN.6J - For PUCK MAN
   HANGLY.6J - For HANGLY MAN
NAMCOPAC.6J - For original Namco PACMAN
   PRG7 & PRG8 - For Namco PACMAN Japanese alternate   --> (two Roms!)
BLPAC7B - For Bootleg PACMAN running on Galaxian hardware

   - The PACMAN ghosts names & additional texts are kept in these Roms.
   - Only use with copies of these Roms, copy them to the original directory
when you are satisfied with the result.

NAMES CHARACTERISTICS:

- The PACMAN/PACMANH/PACPLUS game has:
  - two sets of names/nicknames (11/9 characters)

- The MsPACMAN/MsPACATK game has:
  - only one set of names (9 characters, except SUE 7 characters)
  - The last two characters of the third ghost should be spaces, because the
last ghost (SUE) uses only 7 characters!!

- The PUCKMAN/HANGLY/NAMCOPAC/NAMCO Alt game has:
  - two sets of names/nicknames
  - In the first set it uses 11/8 characters, except MACHIBUSE-PINKY (12/7)
  - In the second set it uses 12/7 characters

- The PACMAN Galaxian bootleg has:
  - one set of names/nicknames (12/7 characters)

The Japanese Alternate Namco PacMan seems to be the real original PacMan,
all the other PACMAN versions contain the code of this Japanese version
and some patches.
The code of the Midway version is identical to the Japanese Alternate,
only English name sets are added !!!! So even the original Midway PacMan
seems to be an official patched version.

ADDITIONAL TEXT CHARACTERISTICS:
- There are several textparts around in the Roms.
I gave it a good look and I picked the following 4 texts:

  - In the PacMan variants you can change:
    1. The 'Character/Nickname' text.
    2. The 'copyright' or 'logo' text in the attraction screen.
    3. The 'Bonus PacMan' text in the start screen.
    4. The 'copyright' or 'logo' text in the start screen.
Note: The graphic Namco logo can be found in graphics Rom *.5E

  - In the MsPacMan variants you can change:
    1. The 'Game name: MsPacMan' text.
    2. The name of 'MsPacMan' in the attraction screen.
    3. The 'Additional MsPacMan' text in the start screen.
    4. The 'copyright' or 'logo' text in the attraction & the start screen.
(This last text consists of two parts, text can break up funny)
Note: The graphic Gencomp logo can be found in graphics Rom 5E
